Meet the Designer

Christina

I have long been drawn to the artistry of a beautifully set table - the interplay of color and texture, the balance of different shapes, and the small details that give a setting its character. When I attend any type of gathering, these are the things I instinctively notice and appreciate. A carefully chosen linen, an unexpected combination of tableware, or a personal detail at each place can influence the atmosphere of the entire gathering. That attention to how individual elements work together is what I love most about tablescape design, and it is the foundation of Alela.

My approach begins with a clear sense of the occasion and the person hosting it. A favorite color, a meaningful piece, or a few loosely connected ideas can become the starting point for a complete design. From there, I consider the palette, proportions, materials, and finishing touches, giving each element a place within the overall composition. I’m interested in creating tables with both elegance and personality, where the details reward a closer look and the setting feels inviting from the moment guests arrive. Through Alela, I bring that care to gatherings of every scale, with the belief that even a familiar table can become something remarkable.

Beyond Alela, my life centers on my husband and our three children (two human, one fur, all equally adored), alongside a love of fashion, travel, and good food. I’m always delighted by the discovery of a beautiful new outfit, a memorable meal, or somewhere I have yet to explore. Born in New York, I spent several years living in London and traveling throughout Europe and Asia, where my appreciation for design and the finer details continued to grow. Those experiences broadened my eye for color, style, and the many ways a setting can express a sense of place and personality. They remain an influence on the care and creativity I bring to Alela.
